COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Additional Important Notes Pertaining to Course Request Procedures:
  • BDCHS runs a block schedule format in which students attend blocks 1 through 4 (90 minute class periods) on Mondays and Wednesdays (which are referenced as "Garnet Days"), and blocks 5 through 8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays (which are referenced as "Gold Days"); Fridays rotate between "Garnet" and "Gold"
  • BDCHS offers only honors and advanced core curricular course options when available, thus there is no option for non-honors math, science, social science, or English core courses; non-honors options are available for some elective course offerings
  • For students that have struggled with Algebra 1 content, but are passing the course, Liberal Arts Math is a great option as a grade 9 math course in place of Geometry

COURSE REQUEST PROCEDURES FOR CURRENT BDCHS STUDENTS:

Date: 3/7/2016

We are happy to announce that Guidmii has been updated to reflect 2015-2016 Semester 1 course history.  Please encourage your student to login to Guidmii and review his or her course and grade history.

Important 2016-2017 Course Request Information:

We are gearing up for the 2016-2017 Course Request Process!  It is important that students review their grade history in Guidmii to prepare for this process.  Students will be requesting their courses through the Guidmii system this year, but will also be completing a Google Course Request Form as an initial step in the request process.  The submission of this form will also serve as a back-up of all student course requests.

A video has been created by Guidmii staff members which is embedded in the form to instruct students how to proceed with the Guidmii Course Request process.  Please see the 2016-2017 Course Request Form here.  Students will complete this form and the Guidmii course request submission on their own time, outside of school hours (this will enable students to complete the course request process with parents/guardians).
  • Click here for information pertaining to course descriptions: http://bdchsstudentservices.weebly.com/curriculum.html

This form will be open to students in each grade level according to the schedule below:
  • Rising Seniors (current grade 11 students): Monday, March 7th-Monday, March 21st
  • Rising Sophomores and Juniors (current grade 9 and 10 students): Thursday, March 10th-Monday, March 21st

All students must have their submissions in by March 21st.  Please note that this is only a request process.  When student schedules are being created, priority will be given to upperclassman for courses with limited seating.  It is imperative that students complete both the 2016-2017 Course Request Form and the course request process in the Guidmii application for course requests to be submitted.  Please remind your student that the 3 alternative options selected in the Google form must also be added in the Guidmii application as the 9th, 10th, and 11th course requests so the student has a total of 11 options selected.
