504 Information
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 protects the rights of those with a disability. Students determined qualified under Section 504 cannot be discriminated against based on their disability and should be provided a free and appropriate public education.
Under Section 504, a student is considered as having a disability if he/she: (1) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities; (2) has a record of such impairment; or (3) is regarded as having such impairment.
If one believes a student might be eligible under the 504 guidelines, he/she should contact the student's school counselor.
