Career Preparation
One of the main goals for every school is to prepare students for the world of work. All BDCHS students should have a postsecondary plan and part of our goal as a school is to help develop that plan and assist students to prepare for, and achieve, the chosen job or career. There are a few main steps to take when trying to narrow down career options:
It is important to realize that the world and the people in it are always changing. There are careers today that did not exist 10 or 20 years ago. Also, the experiences one has in the future may alter the career related thoughts and decisions he/she previously made. For this reason, it is important to frequently reassess VIPs and the career options one finds most intriguing, and update one's knowledge about the current world of work.

- Assess / Self Evaluation - gaining a better understanding of one's values, interests, personality, and skills (known as the V.I.P.s)
- Explore - researching career options and gaining experience in fields of interest
- Plan and Prepare - determining the path you want and then taking steps to make it happen
