Dual Enrollment Textbook Distribution and Return Procedures

Dates and Deadlines

May 14th : Deadline to return Spring textbooks; on May 21st students will be placed on the BDCHS debt list for any unreturned materials
  • TURN BOOKS IN EARLY! If you don't need a book, turn it in so Student Services can process it sooner
  • Seniors: Being added to the debt list has implications for final exam exemption status
April 26th : Start date to pick up Summer books if book list submitted before April 9th
  • For book lists submitted April 12th or later, book distribution may be delayed. Plan ahead!
Books can be picked up after school only.
Processing book/material requests takes at least 2 school days. Plan accordingly!

Textbook Distribution

In order to receive textbooks:
  • All previously loaned textbooks, receipts, and unused vouchers must be returned first (refer to "Textbook Return" section below for steps).  Textbooks should be returned immediately after they are no longer needed, but at least by the day after the last day of HCC class for that semester.
  • An HCC schedule for that term must submitted the school day after you register.  Any needed schedule changes should be discussed with the dual enrollment academic supervisor in case issues arise.
  • Turn in a printed HCC book list.

Steps to create an HCC book list and pick up books:
  1. Once you have registered for HCC classes, you must print your required book list.  Navigate to the HCC bookstore website: https://www.hccfl.edu/bookstore/textbooks/online-textbook-ordering.aspx
  2. Select the campus at which you are taking the class.  If you are taking classes at multiple campuses, you must create a separate book list for each campus.
  3. Search for your course(s) and print the book list.
  4. At the top, write your first and last name and the date you turn in the book list.
  5. Place the book list in the appropriate area in the Student Services Office
  6. Give at least 2 school days for the book list to be processed and stop by during lunch or after school to check if the textbook(s) and/or voucher is ready.

If you are given a book voucher to purchase books from HCC that are not available at BDCHS, you MUST return the receipt.  If you do not use the voucher, you MUST return it.  If you do not return the receipt or voucher, it may hinder your ability to get future textbooks.

Textbook Return

Textbooks should be returned immediately after they are no longer needed, but at least by the BDCHS school day immediately after the last day of HCC class for that semester.

For any book a student does not return, he/she will be placed on the BDCHS debt list for the cost of the book. Any materials (books, receipts, unused vouchers), that are not returned may make a student ineligible to use the BDCHS textbook system.

  1. Return dual enrollment textbooks to the Student Services Office.
  2. Take a scrap paper and write your first and last name, the semester you used the book, and the current date on the paper.  Also, if you used an electronic resource (e-book, access code, etc.) and therefore cannot return it, write a note about it on the paper too (ex: English book was an ebook and can't return).
  3. Place the paper on top of the books.
  4. Put the books together in one plastic bag.
  5. Leave the materials in the appropriate area in Student Services.
